I ran the 'Intel Driver Update Utility' to check whether I had any updates to install, and it said that there were "(Newer Driver Available)" for RAID. It showed that I had the version 188.8.131.524 installed, but the most recent version was 10.8.0.1003, however when I click the 'Download Now' button, it would take me to a page which said:
It says to go to that link and find the download, however I'm not a computer expert and I have no idea under what category 'RAID' is. I'm completely stuck on where I'm supposed to look, and as it's an Intel product I didn't think I'd have so much trouble trying to find it.
Can anyone help?
Looks like you ran into some outdated links there. The Intel RST link on this support page will lead you to the latest version, which is no longer 10.8 but rather 11.2:
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/chpsts/imsm Support for the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST)
You can refer to the following URL:

After installing that update my computer did not boot.....
Luckily I was able to remove the driver again....
I'll leave it this way, because I don't want to reinstall Windows7 here....
You can also try using Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology 11.2:
