I will go through the datasheet offline and see if I can see any compatibility issues. In the meantime,
- Please describe your system (provide full part numbers everywhere you can).
- What processor?
- What PCI/PCIe cards (video, etc.) do you have plugged in?
- What internal drives (HDD, SSD, SSHD, ODD, etc.) do you have connected?
- What external (eSATA-/USB-based) drives do you have connected?
- What peripherals (keyboard, mouse, etc.) do you have connected?
- What fan(s) do you have connected (and to which fan headers)?
- What power supply are you using (want to know overall and per-rail wattage)?
- Try testing using different combinations of 3 DIMMs (ABC, ABD, ACD, BCD) placed into different combinations of DIMM sockets (A0/A1/B0, A0/A1/B1, A0/B0/B1, A1/B0/B1).
[Aside: If all combinations of DIMMs work in all combinations of DIMM sockets, then you will have eliminated bad DIMM and bad DIMM socket as possible culprits for the issue.]
Thank you very much to N. Scott Pearson for the suggestions posted above.
vgamas, Thank you very much for joining the Intel® Desktop Boards communities.
Besides providing the information requested previously, what we are trying to do is to isolate if the problem is related to any of the memory sticks or to any of the memory slots on the board.
Are you able to use any of the 4 memory sticks and they all work as long as it is 12GB, or there is one that does not work all the time?
Same thing with the memory slots on the board, you can use any of them or there is one that it does not work every time?
Just in case, on the link below you will find the system memory for the Intel® DH55HC board:
Please let us know the results of trying the combinations above.
Any further questions, please let me know.
Thank you very much to N. Scott Pearson for the comments above.
vgamas, You are welcome. Thank you very much for sharing those results. Based on that, if you tested all the 4 memory sticks at the same time on the other board and it worked fine, showing 16GB of memory, then we can confirm that the memory sticks are working properly, and as you mentioned before, that would indicate that the problem may be related to the memory slots on the board.
Remember that the board has 3 years of warranty with Intel from the date of purchase, so if you have the invoice and it shows it was purchased less than 3 years ago, then please get in contact with Intel directly to replace it:
