The latest bios is BE0120 and is attached. Also, here is a link to the release notes:
Make sure you update the bios using your 2nd gen processor, not the i5-3570. Once the bios is updated, then install the new processor.
OK, you have a problem. From where you are with bios 0020, to get to 0120 there are multiple steps you MUST take. I do not have all the bios updates you need to get from 0020 to 0120, and there is a specific procedure you MUST take. I sure hope your new 3rd gen processor works.
Forum member @n_scott_pearson may have more of the files needed, plus the detailed steps that you MUST follow exactly. Let us wait for him to reply.
Questiion: Why did you never update your bios on this board? As I have explained, not doing the bios updates has now caused a huge problem.
You do not have to keep mentioning us using the @. Also, I doubt very much that this process will be successful. Even if it were, you are using a board and processor that are almost a decade old.
To prepare, have a couple of usb 2.0 sticks that are FULL formatted as FAT32 and are at least 8GB in size. Do not format them on a mac or linux machine. And, I cannot emphasize this enough, you must following every step Scott provides EXACTLY as he says. This procedure will take multiple updates and will take a long time. So, prepare yourself.
Well, we can try.
I have attached 0041 and 0042. Let us try to get to 0041 first.
On your FAT32 (full format, not quick format) usb stick, unzip 0041 and put be0041.bio on the usb stick.
With the computer off, with the 2nd gen processor installed, with a wired keyboard, insert the usb stick in one of the black usb ports on the rear of the board.
Turn on the computer, and immediately start tapping F7. When the bios update screen is displayed, select the 0041.bio file, and begin the update. Do not unplug the ac power, or do anything until the bios update process is completed and the machine reboots. Upon a successful reboot, you can then remove the usb stick. Be patient, this may take a little time.
Report back as soon as this is done. Then, we can think about going to 0042.
Also, Scott will not be able to participant at this time due to other priorities.
I have attached ZIP file providing the missing BIOS releases. Note the installation instructions in the included Release Notes (file BE0120.pdf).
I hope this helps - but this is unlikely AFAIK. There are compatibility issues that prevent many newer AMD graphics cards from being used with these older motherboards. NVIDIA graphics cards are much, much more compatible.
