Problem with motherboard and memory module.

Hello, Could you please help me with this problem ?

I have got this motherboard - Intel Corporation, D915GUX (product), aac63985-401 (version), EV91510a.86a.0482 (bios version).

And I have got problem with this memory modules KVR400D2S4R3/2G. When I put in this module I receive 3x beeps and I am done. I also tried all positions on motherboard without changes. I also looked if this module is compatible with motherboard and it should be.

Could you please tell me where can be problem ? Thank you very much.

Hello Sedlis, first of all, I would need to let you know that this motherboard has been out of support since December 2008. http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-028521.htm http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-028521.htm

However, since the motherboard is running the latest BIOS available for it, my recommendations for this kind of memory problem are the following:

  • Test the system out of the chassis, minimal configuration please. (Motherboard, processor, power supply and video card) No memory.
  • Remove the CMOS battery and leave the system without it for about an hour. Then put it back on and restart the system.

  • - Include 1 memory stick on DIMM # 1 and restart the system.

When did this behavior started? Any recent change you made on the system?

@Sedlis

You are using server RAMs that are ECC registered & your MB isn't compatible with such RAMs. Hence, the 3 beeps "i.e. memory error".

So as Sylvia said:
