SSD encryption with DB85FL or DH87RL?

I'm looking to purchase one of these boards:

I'm also getting a SSD that supports hardware encryption, like Samsung's 840 EVO. Two questions:

1) Both boards have TPM headers and let you configure a HDD password in the BIOS. Would either board support my SSD's hardware encryption?

2) Would I need a special CPU (i7?) to use the SSD's hardware encryption, or would any LGA1150 CPU do just fine?

Hi ssdfan840,

In regards to SSD encryption, the support depends on the board. There is no need to have different processor model.

Both motherboard models support hard drive encryption, see here for details:
