The SPDIF output of my DG45ID mother board was suddenly broken.

It was ok several minutes ago, and was suddenly broken when I was using the computer. The HDMI output is still ok. But the SPDIF doesn't work anymore. I looked at the optical port and no red light at all. How can I do? Is it a hardware failure? Is there any software tool to verify such kind of failure?

I am not sure about software, But if it is a board problem , I have seen on ebay a pulg-in module you can get that will give you optical and coxial out put you plug into mombo and mount in a slot on back of computer , you have to go in bios to enable it ,But it's a cheap fix rather than getting a new mombo. there about $15.00.
