Trying to upgrade an older intel system with DZ-77SL-50K & i5-3470K before installing win7. Power supply, CD-ROM, SSD are assumed good.
From 1st power on, fans startup, power on LED lights and after 2 seconds a red LED near the cpu fan header flashes and everything shuts down. A second later it trys to startup and 2 seconds later the red LED flashes, repeating the cycle until pressing and holding the front panel power button for a hard power off. Green standby LED remains on and power fault LED remains off throughout the cycle.
double check that the RAM is seated properly, just use 1 stick for now, and double check the pins where the CPU sits.
Start the computer with only the CPU and 1 stick of ram installed, unplug everything else/no add in cards (PCI, PCI-e)
Followed Shaun's advice, no change, then installed the suspect i5-3570K and ram in a new Asus mb and got to BIOS on turn on, so the intel DZ77SL-60K is to only thing left. RMAing it.
