A core 2 duo has 2 cores and 2 threads.

A core 2 quad has 4 cores and 4 threads.

The Core 2 Quad also had two dual-core dies that worked together. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_2 for more information.

Which processor is good in performance because the comparison shows Core2Duo is more costly comparing to Core2Quad. Is this mean Core2Duo is more higher in performance than Core2Quad?

The prices you see today are simply the result of marketing forces (supply and demand) and nothing to do with performance. The Core 2 Quad is easily the better performer.

I agree with Al. Don't waste your money on stuff this old. That's just throwing good money for bad. Purchase something far newer; your performance will be significantly better and your power budget far lower.

You do not want to look at core2 duo or quad. Ten years old, and not supported.

You want to look at an i3/5/7 8th gen processor to be up-to-date and supported.
