hi
i have a dz77bh-55k. the board was nagging about a previous failed attempt at booting and wanted to disable fastboot or allow me to enter into the bios config. It has been doing this for several days now but there is no failed boot attempt. if i select N, so it does not enter setup and the system continues to boot the OS, everything works fine. This time I decided to go into the bios config, load defaults save and reboot. the very next time it booted it got stuck on post code 12. (system initializing) nothing that i do, recovery jumper, B2B button etc works. powering down for a while etc doesn't help either. System just died instantly while doing something perfectly valid.
has anyone encountered this problem before and knows how to fix it ?
thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert,
Here are our recommendations for this issue:
- Clear the CMOS battery for 20 minutes and remove all memory from the system. Place the battery back and turn on the motherboard without memory looking for beep codes. If any beep codes, install one memory module and try to boot.
- If the no boot issue persists, proceed with a BIOS recovery test to the latest BIOS version:

Hi Dan,
thanks fro the tip. however that did not help. I've tried everything I can think of by now:
remove all expansion cards
disconnect ssd/hdd/odd
recovery jumper
B2B button
cmos battery
on the right of the processor there are couple of led's these light up slowly and go off slowely while the system is poweron. There are six of those. I noticed that only 4 of them are 'blinking' is this correct behavior ?
thanks
Robert.

Hi,
anyone have any other tips ?
after two days the board is still not booting.
I figured out that post 12 means "early chipset register programming"
recovery flashing etc. is not working, I think the bios never reaches that point it seems.
before all of this happened I had as strange issue which I accounted to windows at first. I keep getting file system errors when nothing bad seems t have happened. I assumed there was something going on with windows8 which I had just installed. maybe the chipset is damaged somehow ?
how do I RMA the board ?
thanks,
Robert.
