dz77re-75k, HyperX KHX16C9P1K2/16: memory error in dual channel mode

I have just assembled a new computer. Testing whether the BIOS starts and recognizes the RAM. This with minimal amount of parts, onboard graphics, no HDs, no OS.

Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K

Kingston RAM: KHX16C9P1K2/16

16GB (8GB 2Rx8 1G x 64-Bit x 2 pcs.), DDR3-1600MHz CL9 240-Pin DIMM Kit

Supports Kingston HyperX Plug and Play (PnP)

I get into the BIOS with either one RAM module, or with both, only in single channel mode! Dual channel mode, by inserting the two modules into the two blue banks, leads to memory error (three beeps and restart).

BIOS Version 0060 - GAZ7711H.86A.0060.2012.1115.1750 (F7 updated to the latest version in the working single channel mode)

Tried slower settings, timings, nothing helped. Always memory error in dual channel mode. Kingstons RAM, as well as Intels board are latest prime products, suitable for Ivy Bridge.

Has anybody an idea? May the memory be incompatible. Or is it faulty, the two do not work together?

But if this is the case, why does it work in single channel mode?

Thanks for help!

Joerg
