i7-950 or i7-960 compatible with Intel DX58SO?

Jump to solution

I have an Intel DX58SO motherboard on an existing PC I bought back in 2009. It is possible that the processor has gone bad though I have to verify that. However, the i7-920 (2.6MHz) I am using on that motherboard is no longer available on the local market.

Locally the Intel i7-950 (3.06MHz) & i7-960 (3.2MHz) are available and I would like to know if any of these two are compatible on this motherboard? or will I have to upgrade the motherboard as well?

Hello Panama Vibes,

I understand that you are inquiring about the compatibility between the Intel(R) Desktop Board DX58SO and the Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 Processor 950 and 960.

In regards to your inquire, all the processors on the supported processor list will work on your motherboard, you can find the list at the following web site:

Will probably ditch the DX58SO and go for a socket 1155 CPU which has much lower consuption than my 920 or the 950/960 candidates.
