memory upgrade for a D101GGC motherboard

Jump to solution

I cannot for the life of me understand the manual for this board, in this case, with regard to the memory supported.

Memory •Two DDR SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets

•Support for DDR 400 MHz and DDR 333 MHz DIMMs

•Support for up to 2 GB of system memory

Will this support 2 gb of memory or not, if yes exactly what kind is needed?

NOTE

To be fully compliant with all applicable DDR SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be

populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows

the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings

for optimum performance. If non-SPD memory is installed, the BIOS will attempt to correctly

configure the memory settings, but performance and reliability may be impacted or the DIMMs

may not function under the determined frequency.

Table 4 lists the supported DIMM configurations.

Table 4. Supported Memory Configurations

1024 MB DS 512 Mbit 64 M x 8/64 M x 8 16

1024 MB SS 1 Gbit 128 M x 8/empty 8

Note: In the second column, "DS" refers to double-sided memorymodules (containing two rows of SDRAM) and "SS" refers

to single-sided memory modules (containing one row of SDRAM).

I' ve searched for memory with Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure but no luck.

Thank you for your help.

Hello Terry,

We would like to inform you that this motherboard will support 1GB on each memory slot, for a total of 2GB maximum for memory system. Since this motherboard was discontinued back in 2008, is really difficult to locate memory rated at the specifications that the board supports due to discontinuance and that memory technologies are constantly evolving.

We recommend getting memory with the following specifications:

- DDR 400 MHz and DDR 333 MHz DIMMs rated at 2.5V

- Non-ECC DIMMs

Further information can be found at the Technical Product Specification page# 15:
