FAQs and How to Post to Intel(r) DevCloud Forum

Note: If you have questions regarding specific Intel® oneAPI Toolkits, Compilers, Frameworks or Library’s please post your question in the appropriate Software Product Forum. 

After checking the FAQs below, and your issue persists, please include the following information in order to get help as quickly as possible:

• CPU/System info
• Package/Frameworks used with version if applicable
• Screen shots of error information and any logs if available
• Steps/Scripts to reproduce
• Provide the following information when raising a connectivity issue:
  • Did you try connecting from an open internet connection?
  • Did you face any issues while following the steps detailed on the link provided in the welcome mail for connecting?
  • Are you trying to connect for the first time, or did you lose connectivity after having successfully connected at least once?
  • Is your DevCloud access key still valid?
  • If you had already connected before and you are not able to connect now, please try connecting after some time to check if this is a temporary network glitch?
  • Please provide the error screenshot and mention if you are trying to connect from Windows/Linux/MacOS.

Please do not include private information such as your email address or product serial number in your posts. If you need to share private information with an Intel employee, they can start a private thread for you.

Q1:  Where can I get access to the Intel® DevCloud?

A1:  You can preregister for the Intel DevCloud here: https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/tools/devcloud.html?erpm_id=1168240

Q2:  How do I use the Intel® DevCloud with Intel® oneAPI Products?

A2:  The Intel® DevCloud provides a development environment for testing oneAPI.  The following link provides details for how to use the DevCloud.  https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/getting-started-with-intel-devcloud-for-oneapi-projects

Q3:  How to increase the wall time (run time) in DevCloud?

A3:  Default wall time limit in Devcloud is 6hrs and you extend this up to 24hrs.  If you want to extend the default limit to 24 hrs, use "#PBS -l walltime=24:00:00" in your job file.

Q4:  DevCloud jobs end prematurely without any error?

A4:  In order to ensure fair utilization of DevCloud resources for all users, there is a maximum limit on the number of jobs that can be run by a specific user. This may be the reason for your issue. 

The limit of total running jobs per user is 15 and each job can request up to 5 nodes.

Q5:  How can I extend my access to the DevCloud? 

A5:  To extend your DevCloud access, please tell us more about your use of DevCloud by posting a project on Intel DevMesh. Continue to https://DevMesh.intel.com and login. Add a project, then return to the DevCloud portal https://devcloud.intel.com/oneapi and use the "Extend" button to submit an extension request with the URL of your DevMesh project.

Tips for extension of DevCloud access via DevMesh:

• When adding the project you can select as a private posting for Intel eyes only or public allowing you to create a public page on DevMesh
• Select Status "Under Development": use of DevCloud means you have started the development process
• Complete the "Methodology" and "Technology" descriptions to the best of your ability.
• Add relevant images, media or code repo links that shows us how your work is progressing
• Do not use email to submit your request. Instead, log in to the DevCloud portal (see the Instructions link above) and use the button "Extend" in the page header to bring up the extension request form
