EM2130 I2C is required for 0.8@30A or not?

Hi Intel Team,

We are looking for a regulator which can source 0.8V@30A core voltage required for our chipset and found that EM2130L02QI suits our requirement. To get the required output ie: 0.8V@30A, what hardware configuration needs to be done. ? We would like to avoid any software programming overhead so, Whether I2C configuration is required for this IC to get this particular output.? Please provide reference design if available and support us go ahead with this part.

Hello Vyshnav,

There is no need to rout the I2C traces for that regulator to make it work., its already programed and you can select the required output voltage by inserting a resistor on RVSET pin.

Attached is a ref schematic for EM2130, so you can copy that design.

Feel free to share your EM2130 schematic for the review and i will be happy to do that.

Thanks,

Mostafa

Hi Mostafa Sir,

Thank you so much for your quick response. I would like to clarify one more doubt regarding this chip-set.

We are planning to provide the same input 5V supply to  VCC and PVCC pins of the IC. This will be fine or not.?

Hello Vyshnav,

Yes, there is no issue to use same supply for both PVCC and VCC signals, but we recommend to insert a FB in between these two pins and adding extra 10uF to  VCC to reduce the noise coupling.

Hi Mostafa Sir,

Our chip-set vendor wanted to simulate all I2C interface functionality for verification purpose. As there is I2C interface in EM2130 chipset, they wanted us to provide IBIS model for this IC. Where can I find IBIS model for this chipset. ? Could you please support for the same.?

Hello Vyshnav,

I checked internally and unfortunately Enpirion doesn't support IBIS model requests.

Dear @Vyshnav ,

I only have two comments:

  1. Please increase the output capacitance as shown below since this is the core rail
    1. update Rtune to 392R
    2. Cout=4x100uF+4x47uF+2x470uF
  2. Please Insert 10uF to VCC signal as shown

Hi Mostafa Sir,

Thank you so much for your review feedback and for sharing the simplis model. I'll update the changes.

I would like to let you know that we have used EM63A0QI for  1.1V, 12A and 1.8V ,12A. If you could review that as well, it will be of great help.

Hi @Vyshnav ,

Schematic are okay, but I have only few modification as shown below for optimization.

Same modification for both 1.1V and 1.8V rails.
