How can I fix the startup issue for EP5358, EP5358, EP53A7 and the other devices that have an issue with higher output capacitance than what the datasheet recommends?

Hello Jenanne,

First of all you need to use the recommended output capacitors and don't add extra capacitance where this will case a high inrush current during the startup and will trigger the OCP spatially at the cold temp.

If your load requires certain decoupling that exceed the default recommended output capacitance of Enpirion devices, so in this case, you need to insert a ferrite bead in between the default output capacitor and the required decoupling capacitor to limit the inrush current and avoid causing any instability issue.

Also note that, the feedback component or the sense trace of Enpirion devices must be connected after the default capacitor and before the ferrite bead.

Regards,

Mostafa
