Dear Mostafa,

we understand that you are not supporting the EN6347 for space application.

Before we use this part in our designs we would like to do some tests and some theoretical investigations

So it is just our responsibility…..

Material information and whisker estimation is not a typical parameter for space application it is also important for applications in automotive industry.

Therefore I would like to ask you again for these information.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / best regards

Dear Mostafa,

many thanks for providing the materials declaration sheet and even it’s in xml-format it helps.

So 1 question:

From the material declaration sheet it seems that the leadframe has a pure tin plating (>97% tin) What is the whisker mitigation activity strategy with Intel

Dear Ottmar,

Below is the quality team feedback:

EN6347QA has matte Tin plating over Cu Alloy 194 leadframe.

Tin Whisker Mitigation Procedure:

  • Annealing: one hour bake at 150°C within 24 hours of plating.

Tin Whisker Acceptance Test Results:

  • Tin Plating is in compliance with JEDEC Tin Whisker Acceptance Tests (JESD201, JESD22A121).

No tin whiskers observed after the following three types of preconditioning:

-  Thermal cycle test (temperature cycling) :  -55°C to 85 °C , 20 minutes soak, for 1000 cycles

-  High Temperature / Humidity Storage :  50°C to 60 °C , (80 - 95)%RH, for 6 months

-  Ambient Temperature/ Humidity Storage :  20 °C to 30 °C, (30 - 85)%RH, for 6 months

Please let m know, if this answer your question.

Thanks,

Mostafa
