Programmer: Kernel mode driver not installed

Hi, I'm new with Quartus and have the following problem:

After starting the programmer, click on "Hardware Setup..", select USB-Blaster, and click on "Add Hardware" then in the window plopping up there are two lines.

  1.  Hardware Type: ByteblasterMV or Byteblaster II
  2. Port: Kernel mode driver not installed.

My download cable is named "USB Blaster", no MV nor II. A second possible selection for Hardware Type is EthernetBlaster which certainly is not my cable.

Since some time I'm struggling with programming my EPM3064ATC44. Formerly my USB Blaster was recognized but I had severe problems with Quartus/programmer hang up and could only get out by killing the process via Task Manager. May be, something more has been killed.

I also reinstalled the programmer software which did not change the problem.

What can I do now?

A very frustrated Niko3 is asking for help.

Hmmm. Same software for me (QuartusII 13.0sp1 Programmer) and with a USB Blaster plugged in and driver installed, works fine.

I suspect you don't have a USB driver (correctly) installed for your USB Blaster.

My screen shot:

And if I go into my Windows10 Settings / Computer Management / Device Manager, I see the Altera USB device and the installed drivers:

One of the two .sys files in your configuration is different from mine. I have edevmon.sys instead of USBPcap.sys and

the provider is ESET instead of FTDI ltd.

I will look for FTDI drivers.

Thank you.

You have never stated what operating system you are running on? WIndows or Linux? Exactly what version.

If you want reasonable help you need to state your system configuration exactly, as it matters for software install and issues.

Hello,

It seems like it is missing the USB blaster driver. Below I will attach the link for the USB blaster driver installation guidance.

Hope that answers your question.
