How to display text on LCD without using nios II processor?

Is there a way to display characters on the LCD display without the need to use the qsys tool?

Hi MAlha, 

 

You can directly drive it from a HDL desciption by writing VHDL/Verilog commands.

Refer to previous thread for examples.
