Hello Everyone,I am currently working in college project where we have to reprogramme old Altera Chip EP610PC-15 so that they can be used in PC with new operating system. Can anyone help me how can I do this or is this really possible. Thanks
Hi h,yes, it is possible but only in case of a windowed ceramic package. Plastic package devices are one-time-programmable. A windowed package device can be erase with help of an ultra-violet (UV) eraser. For more information please check manufacturer device specification (https://www.altera.com/content/dam/altera-www/global/en_us/pdfs/literature/ds/archives/classic.pdf). The following web page can be helpful for better understanding of the situation as well (https://www.elnec.com/en/support/application-notes/html/?file=erasing_eprom). Best regards, Martin Edit: According to the exact device part number format is the package type plastic DIP package. Therefore the answer is no unfortunately. The reason has been already explained.
Hi Martin,Thanks for answering my question. My another question these are compatible with windows, If I reprogramme them will they work in windows 10. Is there any software to reprogramme these chips. Thanks Harshavardhan
Hi Harshavardhan, this device belongs to the Altera Classic family that is no longer supported on the actual version of Altera design system. As I know the Classic family has been supported in MAX+PLUS II design system. I have no idea if this can be supported in Windows 10 as many older SW have a problem with Win10 compatibility. Maybe with help of a virtual machine with WinXP. One can try the following web pages to get additional information about the topic: https://www.altera.com/support/support-resources/download/legacy/maxplus2/mp2-index.html https://www.altera.com/products/general/devices/classic.html https://www.altera.com/support/literature/lit-mature.html Best regards, Martin
