Problem with Fortran Compiler and Vista

The latest Fortran compiler works well on a computer with XP Pro, but on Vista it does not. The drop down menu is different -- I do not see the "Extract Compaq Virtual Fortran.." option on the drop-down menu as it shows on XP Pro. How to fix this?

My guess is that on the XP system you had a separately-purchased Microsoft Visual Studio installed while on the Vista system you are using the bundled Visual Studio 2008 Shell. The Shell does not offer the ability to convert CVF projects because that depends on having the Visual C++ project system present.

If you have a license for Visual Studio 2005 or 2008, uninstall Fortran and the VS2008 Shell, install the separate Visual Studio, then reinstall Fortran. Otherwise you will have to recreate the projects manually.

Thanks Steve, this makes sense. I'll try that.

Steve, I did exactly as you said, but it didn't work. I reloaded Visual Studio 2008, but nothing has changed. Any further suggestions. Maybe I have to go back to Compaq fortran or try Visual Studio 2005?

Did you also reinstall Intel Fortran? If you did, please open VS08, select Help > About. Click "Copy Info" and then Paste into a reply here.
