XE 2011.6.233 IVF Issue "Project Type(.vfproj) is not supported"

I installed XE 2011.6.233 and tried to load a project that compiles successfully under XE 2011.5.221. Now under this new version with VS2010 when I open the project it says it's converting the files. It completes this without any errors, but it will not load the source code so it can be rebuilt. I get this error "xxx.vfproj can not be opened because it project type(.vfproj) is not supported by this version of the application". What is causing this and how do I correct it?
