It appears you have to remove all Intel programs, install this first and then reinstall. 

This update came thru yesterday.

Not Fortran. That's Intel Trace Analyzer and Collector.

It downloaded with the Fortran compiler on the Software updater,  I thought it was a bit strange as it was not on my system, I just assumed it was required. 

What is the purpose?

It's an analysis tool for MPI applications, part of the Cluster Edition of Intel Parallel Studio XE.
