Hi,

I am new to IPP. I want to download IPP for linux. There are two libraries for Linux, one for Xeon, another for Pentium. Can some one tell me how to distinguish Xeon and Pentium on linux?

I tried "uname -p". The output is "i686". What is "i686"? Xeon or Pentium?

Thanks
James

Dear Customer,

You can check cat/proc/cpuinfo to find out if it contains this "Im" flag where it indicates that it is an EM64T system.
One package is for Xeon processor with EM64T support, and another one is for regular Pentium based processors.

Hope it helps.
Thanks,
