How can I prevent this from happening in the future? I always shut down my Intel Galileo Gen 2 using "halt".

Hi BrechtW,
When does the message appear? When you power up the board, does the message just appear at the beginning of the booting process?
Does the issue happen with the SD card inserted, or it also happens without the SD card?
Regards,
Diego

The message appears when powering up at the beginning of the booting process and stops there.
It also happens without the SD card, but that i'm not 100% sure.

Hi BrechtW,
If the message appears even if you are not using the SD card, then the issue is in the board (firmware) and not in the SD card image.
If the USB client port is detected by your PC (without the SD card inserted), I recommend you to try to upgrade the board's firmware using the Firmware Updater Tool: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24748 Download Intel® Galileo Firmware and Drivers 1.0.4
If upgrading the firmware doesn't work, I recommend you to try the following recovery methods:
Hopefully the board can be fixed with one of the methods above.
Regards,
Diego
