Hello, everyone,
I got a Joule 570x board two days ago. Now I am tring to installed an ubuntu sytem on it, but met some problems during the process. I would appreciate if you could give me some help.
According to the reference page, https://developer.ubuntu.com/core/get-started/intel-joule https://developer.ubuntu.com/core/get-started/intel-joule , I made a bootable USB, and intalled http://people.canonical.com/~platform/snappy/tuchuck/desktop-final/tuchuck-xenial-desktop-iso-201703... Intel Joule - Ubuntu Desktop 16.04 LTS imag
into my Joule 570x board. The whole process of the installation finished. For now, when I powred on the board, It could goes into the login window as shown in Figure1. After entering
the password, the window would always keep in the Figure2. I waited for at least twenty minutes. But the situation still keeps. Are there anyone who known how to fix this bug?
Thank you,
Jack from Shanghai

Hi, Sergio
Thank you so much. I have already solve this problem. It seems the reason it couldn't go into the main window because the ubuntu desktop environment - "unity" is very memory-consumed. So I push Ctrl+F1 to login into the system with terminal. After that, I installed the "xfce4" desktop environment in this ubuntu system. with "sudo apt-get intall xubuntu-desktop". xfce4 use memory less than "unity".
After finishing this intallation, finally, I could login this ubuntu system, as shown in Figure1.
Thank you.

Hi jackzhang1992,
Thank you for contacting us.
Unfortunately, installing Ubuntu on the Joule is out of the scope of support of this team, since the only image we support is Ref-OS-IoT. If you're looking for the experts' advice on how to install and work with Ubuntu on the Joule, I'd suggest you to contact https://developer.ubuntu.com/core/get-started/intel-joule https://developer.ubuntu.com/core/get-started/intel-joule .
We appreciate your understanding.
