Hi all,
I just got a Gen2 board last week and have been bootstrapping Debian Stretch to Galileo. It looks like I'll be able to get it to work.
Here's a little breakdown of what I've tackled so far:
- Restore i586 support after Stretch dropped it -- see: https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2015/09/msg00589.html Defaulting to i686 for the Debian i386 architecture
- Began recompilation of base packages with += -Wa,-momit-lock-prefix=yes -march=pentium -mtune=i486
I still need to:
- Rebuild and tinker with libc and the kernel to reenable i586 support (and build the kernel without lock prefixes)
- Finish building about ~50 more packages for the complete list of packages required for a base system
The big caveat is that this is more or less a fork of Debian and is entirely unsupported by Debian proper.
Hopefully I'll have a downloadable rootfs within the next week!
