BIOS upgrade woes

Hello!

I try to update my computestick to latest bios in order to be ableto upgrade to win10. When I try to do this ,with Intels utilityf, rom a usb-drive with the BIO-file on it the Stick just continuosly restarts until I turn it off.

Has anyone an idea how to do this from usb-drive? The stick presently does not boot into Win 8.1.

Hello GunnarJ:

In order to do a BIOS update we can use the F7 method.

Instructions to do the BIOS update using the F7 method:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/desktop-boards/000005724.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/desktop-boards/000005724.html

And this is the .BIO file needed to do the update to the latest version 0034:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26502/BIOS-Update-FCBYT10H-86A-?product=86612 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26502/BIOS-Update-FCBYT10H-86A-?product=86612

Also, remember that the compute stick is upgradable to Windows® 10 32 bit or Windows Pro/Enterprise 32-bit, as you can confirm on the following link:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/intel-compute-stick/000005899.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/intel-compute-stick/000005899.html

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto

Hi!

When I try the F7 method I get to OK the BIO-file (from the USB) then I shortly get the Intel logo and then the unit powers off.

Regards Gunnar

PS

I have the STCK1A32WFCR model.

Hello GunnarJ:

Thank you very much for providing that information.

Since the stick is not booting into Windows then what we can try now a BIOS recovery to version 0034:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/intel-compute-stick/000005902.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/intel-compute-stick/000005902.html

If by any chance this method does not work either, then this could be a problem with the Stick itself.

The fastest way to replace it will be with the place of purchase, but they have their own warranty policy so you will need to check with them if they can do that for you.

With Intel the Stick has 1 year of warranty and we can always replace it for you.

The fastest way to do that will be by getting in contact with Intel directly through phone, chat or email or online support, just choose stick on the following link and you will get those options to contact them:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/contact-support.html# @12 http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/contact-support.html# @12

Or we can always replace it for you in here through forums, it might not be that fast but we can always do that for you.

Please let me know the results of trying the BIOS recovery.

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto

Any questions, please let me know.
