C++ Remote Debugger Visual Studio 2017

Hello together,

since a few days I try to configure the remote debugger in Visual Studio 2017 with c++. I used the following links to configre:

But I always get the error:

2> Could not connect to the Microsoft Visual Studio Remote Debugger named Visual Studio Remote Debugger (MSVSMON.EXE) does not appear to run on the remote computer. This may be because the communication with the remote computer is through a firewall. For information about how to configure remote debugging, see Help.

I started the remote debugger via the windows device portal and I checked if the processs msvsmon.exe is running ant it is.

The lokal debugger is working. Also to compile is possible.

I am out of ideas. Can someone help me?

Develop PC: win10 with the newest updates.

Intel joule 570: win10 IOT 10.0.15051.0

If you need more information just tell. I am relatively a newbie to c++

Thank you

Hi Someoneelse,

Thanks for reaching out.

Personally, I don't have too much experience using the Intel Joule with Windows IoT Core. Nevertheless, I was checking the information that you have provided, and I noticed that you are following a guide with Visual Studio 2015, but based on your information you are using Visual Studio 2017. I'm not sure if there is any difference using this version, but this is the guide with Visual Studio 2017:

I also found the section Remote Debugging Errors and Troubleshooting, which it has information about the error that you are having:

Having said this, consider that the Intel Joule is compatible with different OSs like Win IoT Core and Ubuntu, but the one that is officially supported by us is the Reference OS. So, the best recommendation that I can give you is to contact Microsoft, they might provide you a better response since Windows IoT Core is owned by Microsoft:

Have nice day.
