Can Intel Edison use USB HUB.

Jump to solution

Hi all,

If I want to use a USB sound card and USB webcam on intel edison. They are connect to edison by the http://famousonlineshop.com/uploads/product_image/product_663_1.jpg USB HUB

Can edison read 2 USB devices in the same time ?

Do I have to use the external power source for the USB HUB ?

Thank you and regards,

Khoa

Yes you can use a hub, maybe some additional kernel modules are necessary.

As an example I already used this one http://www.samsung.com/de/consumer/mobile-devices/accessories/connectivity/ET-UP900UBEGWW Original Smartphone & Handy Zubehör | Samsung

that also enbales a ethernet connection, it is based on the Lan9512, so I need to include this kernel module.

I suppose a normal USB Hub should work out of the box.

You can draw up to 500 mA from the USB Port of the edison, if this is enough you won't need an external source.
