Can't add device to IoT dashboard error "Device already exists"

error: Activation Rejected: {"code":1409,"message":" Device already exists"} --> error

2016-07-28T07:29:52.473Z - error: Error in the activation process ... 300

It is the new Edison so none can use it before. Please help me to reset the device from the account (It might be technical error to put the same code on the different devices)

Hi,

What image are you using? What steps have you followed to configure the IoT dashboard? This issue has already been discussed here /message/403338# 403338 https://communities.intel.com/message/403338# 403338 . Try the suggestions posted and let us know your results.

iotkit-admin test

iotkit-admin device-id

Account -> Details. Activation Code.

iotkit-admin activate

then i get

error: Activation Rejected: {"code":1409,"message":" Device already exists"} --> error

2016-07-28T07:29:52.473Z - error: Error in the activation process ... 300

I used image from the latest Edison Installation program. In your example (/message/403338# 403338 https://communities.intel.com/message/403338# 403338 ) person already registered his device, but my offer was rejected. "I successfully registered my IOT device to the IOT analytics".

Now I want to register mine.

Try with these steps:

1. Dashboard>Devices>Trash icon (Delete all of them)

2. Reboot Edison: reboot

3. In this order:

systemctl status iotkit-agent

systemctl stop iotkit-agent

iotkit-admin initialize

Dashboard>MyAccount>Details>Refresh Activation Code

iotkit-admin activate "activation_code"

systemctl start iotkit-agent

Now the "components" the Dashboard>MyAccount>Catalog , should match:

iotkit-admin catalog

Maybe Intel should have more "components", however you can now register it:

iotkit-admin register <<yourVar>> <<component_id>>

Send Info :

iotkit-admin observation <<yourVar>> <<yourValue>>

View Info in Dashboard>Charts>Device>Component

Hey Sergio,

I'm having a similar issue, adding a new device to IoT analytics (i just made my account an hour back and using this guide "https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-iot-platforms-getting-started-cloud-analytics Intel® IoT Platforms: Getting Started: Cloud Analytics | Intel® Software") and I get this error::

2016-09-12T06:07:55.690Z - error: Activation Rejected: {"code":1409,"message":"Device already exists"} --> error

2016-09-12T06:07:55.700Z - error: Error in the activation process ... 300

Tried the above steps of "https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/internet-of-things/topic/535059 IoT Dev Kit and unable to see my device in the Device page " but doesn't add devices to my account.

Please help!

Hi letaureau,

Have you already tried all the troubleshooting steps posted above, including the ones in this thread /message/403338# 403338 https://communities.intel.com/message/403338# 403338 ? What image are you using?

Have you already looked at this link https://github.com/enableiot/iotkit-agent https://github.com/enableiot/iotkit-agent ? It has lots of useful information on how to configure the IoT dashboard. Make sure you follow all the steps to make sure you're running the proper versions and have everything properly installed.

Hi,

I am having the same issue. I tried all the suggested solutions above (rebooted, cleared the registration data, re-activated, etc), but I always get the same result ("Device already exists"). I'm not doing anything special and I start from scratch, so why is this not working?

I'm using the latest image.

I'm using my smartphone as a local hotspot for the Edison WIFI, and I use a separate network for the computer which accesses my Dashboard.

Thanks,

Benoit

Hi.

I was in same trouble, but just now I could register my Edison.

my English is not good but hope you understand me

Is your Edison's device ID 00-00-00-00-31-00?

I tried to change my device ID by

iotkit-admin set-device-id < device ID you like >

And activate it.

I resolved it by this way.

Hi BenoitP,

After running which command is it you get the "Device already exists" message? Are you able to test the connectivity using iotkit-admin test? Did you already register your agent using the iotkit-admin device-id command? In the dashboard menu, what do you see under activation code? Do you see a "Code expired" message. According to this guide: https://github.com/enableiot/iotkit-agent/blob/master/doc/gettingStarted.pdf https://github.com/enableiot/iotkit-agent/blob/master/doc/gettingStarted.pdf , the activation will work for one hour. Post a screenshot if necessary.
