Cannot find 'bigger linux image' for micro SD card Galileo Gen 2

Hi

I am just getting started with the Galileo board, have no experience with these or Arduinos. I'm trying to follow the Teachers Guide to the Intel Galileo. It suggests getting the bigger Linux image onto a micro SD card to access more functionality like wireless, Python etc. However the link in the document takes me to here

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support.html, and I have searched but cannot find this bigger Linux image to download. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Hi,

Could you post the link of the instructions you were following so we could report this?

You can download the image from: https://software.intel.com/en-us/iot/hardware/galileo/downloads

Download the EGLIBC image and use the instructions to prepare the microSD in the OS you are using (Windows, OSX or Linux)

Hi

Thanks for your reply. The instructions are here:

http://innovationtoolbox.intel.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/A-Teachers-Guide-to-the-Intel-Galil...

The link I was trying to follow was https://communities.Intel®.com/community/makers/drivers https://communities.Intel®.com/community/makers/drivers but it didn't work.

The link that you have given me contains a link to download the Linux image for microSD card, but it also errors.

https://software.intel.com/galileo-image/latest https://software.intel.com/galileo-image/latest

Thanks

Greg

Hi Greg,

The image you need (or, at least the one I think it is referred to in the .pdf you mention) is found at

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support.html Intel® Support (the link in the .pdf, which you also posted) ==> Download Drivers and Software https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ Drivers & Software ==> Select a product (pull-down menu)-Boards and Kits ==> https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/78586/Boards-and-Kits Drivers & Software ==> Additional selections available...(another pull-down)-Intel Galileo Boards-Intel® Galileo Board Software Package ==> https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24355/Intel-Galileo-Board-Software-Package?product=78906 Download Intel® Galileo Board Software Package ==> https://downloadmirror.intel.com/24355/eng/SDCard.1.0.8.tar.bz2 https://downloadmirror.intel.com/24355/eng/SDCard.1.0.8.tar.bz2 (near the bottom left corner of the page)

... yes... not "at a single click" ... : )

Downloading that image you should be able to go on the guide in the .pdf

I think there are several dangling links inside Intel pages... but I didn't know about

The link that you have given me contains a link to download the Linux image for microSD card, but it also errors.

https://software.intel.com/galileo-image/latest https://software.intel.com/galileo-image/latest

which is another page containing a dangling reference (at least right now, of course).

HTH,

Fernando.

Thank you, this is very helpful. I had tried to find it at

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ but was unsuccessful. I think I may have at one point even been on the correct page but still didn't see it! I think I was expecting a direct , single-click link. However with your help I have now downloaded it, just gotta see if I can make it work!

Once again, thank you, that is very much appreciated.

You are welcome.

I (very quickly) read the .pdf you referred to and I think it has all you need at least to start using Galileo with Arduino sketches and SD card.

Just let us know if you have firther questions/issues.

Fernando.
