Check from sketch if the Ethernet cable is connected

Jump to solution

Hi,

Is there a way to check, form the sketch, if the Ethernet cable is connected?

I've seen that there is a command that can be sent to Linux using system() commad, but as I'm aware there is no way to get returned value (except to write it on SD card).

According to documentation Ethernet controller is embedded into Quark processor but sketch is using library like for other Arduino boards containing Wiz5100 ethernet chip. Whats the catch with this?

Thanks in advance,

R

Hello justRadojko,

You can actually check it your network status if you type something like this:

system("ifconfig eth0 > /dev/ttyGS0");

delay(500);

With this little piece of code you will be able to check your Ethernet status and write it directly to the Serial Monitor in the Arduino IDE.
