Compute Stick (Linux) hangs after reboot

Hi,

Occasionally, my Compute Stick (Linux version) will hang after I perform a reboot. It will basically hang at the boot-up splash screen and I will have to manually power it off by holding to the "power button". This behaviour doesn't happen all the time, maybe 1 out of 10 to 20 times? As I need to perform an automatic reboot daily, and the system is unattended, it is causing some problem for me. Any idea what is the issue?

Hi Amy,

I am using the Windows version (STCK1A32WFC), running the image from the Linux version. I know that for my case, Intel will not be obligated to support it, but I do find it interesting that the problem doesn't happen all the time. It is hard for me to narrow down if it is a hardware compatibility issue or a software problem.

Regards,

Choong

In this case like you mentioned this configuration is not supported by Intel but I understand and let's hope that other users can join this thread and add more information in regard to this behavior.

Hello Choong,

Please check on the following post: /thread/76216 Ubuntu LiveCD for the STCK1A32WFC (Windows).

Confirm if you applied any patches to prevent eMMC RPMB timeouts? REF - https://dev-nell.com/rpmb-emmc-errors-under-linux.html https://dev-nell.com/rpmb-emmc-errors-under-linux.html

You could try linuxiumUbuntu LiveCD for the STCK1A32WFC (Windows) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B99O3A0dDe67Q0dzalFHWWhMNmc ubuntu-14.10-desktop-linuxium-ics.iso - Google Drive *

Take into consideration the fact Intel is not responsible for any content outside Intel's website and here is the official information about validated Operating Systems for Intel Compute Stick: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-035602.htm Intel® Compute Stick — Supported Operating Systems

Hi Caesar,

Thanks for all the links. Will definitely check them out.

FYI, I am using the image from the Ubuntu version of ICS. Do you know if that version actually has the eMMC RPMB patched?

Choong

Hi Caesar,

Went through the links, I don't think the problem is because of the eMMC RPMB issue. My problem doesn't happen all the time, in fact, it is pretty rare. I also tried to search for the error in the log files, but couldn't find any. Any idea what else could be the problem?

Choong
