Compute Stick frozen with the power on

The stick is frozen with the power on. I cannot turn off the power to reset. Is there anything I can try. Thanks

Hi And4545,

Please try the following:

Update the Intel® Compute Stick BIOS; please download in the following link the latest BIOS version according to your Intel® Compute Stick model:

Intel® Compute Stick STCK1A32WFC

I recommend doing a BIOS recovery and you can follow the steps at the following link:

After that is done reset the system to factory defaults:

  1. Remove any SD card, if installed.
  2. Press F8 when you see this prompt during boot: F8 to Activate Windows® 8.1 Recovery Mode.
  3. Select Troubleshoot.
  4. Select Reset your PC, then select Next.
  5. Select just remove my files.
  6. Select Reset to start the restore process.

Hi Hellen,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the stick does not show on any monitor or TV screen so I cannot follow your recommendations.

I have now tried the stick on 2 TV screens and a monitor with no luck. The power light comes on when the stick is connected to either usb or mains power. But when the hdmi is selected it now says 'no signal'.

Is there away for the stick to be reset using the power button? Do you have any other suggestions. Could it be that the stick has become faulty? Thanks again for your time with this...

I have the same problem.

The intel stick has the blue led on, but nothing happens.

I believe these sticks have a fan. If so, in my case the fan does not work: no sound at all...

It has a fan. And it sounds if there is silence. So you could check either the fan is running or not.

@and4545: Your problem sounds as a graphics hardware issue. No signal and running on probably will be that. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/contact-support.html Contact Support
