Connect to Intel Galileo via ssh

Jump to solution

Hi , I'm trying to use Intel Galileo Gen 1 in a project. As far as i know, on this board is installed "a light" version of linux(right ?). I need to access this OS to use some of its capabilities. So, what I've tried was to connect my board to a local network(to a router) and access it via SSH, but doesn't work. I mention that my board has a static IP address(alocated by an Arduino sketchhttps://www.google.ro/search?q=arduino+sketch&spell=1&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjNyNm5gvLJAhVBvRoKHelECyAQvwUI... ), and PING requests to that IP address seems to work fine.

Am I missing something ? thanks

Hello @L3X,

You can access the Galileo's console through the serial port (the one that looks like an audio jack). However, you will need the proper cable to access the console. Take a look at the following document, the cable you need is showed there: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/intel-galileo-boards/000006343.html?w... Console Serial Cables for Boards and Kits

If you want to access the console using the Ethernet cable, you have to use Telnet. You have to start the telnet server on Galileo and assign the IP address to get access. Please check the following thread for additional details: .

Diego.

Thank you ...i've tried you second advice(via Telnet) and it's working. Also I saw that with Yocto distro, on an SD Card, I can access Intel Galileo via SSH. Great !! thank you very much

Hi @L3X,

ssh is only available in the SD Linux image. There is no ssh in the "small" image located in the serial Flash. So, if you need absolutely ssh, then you must burn the full Yocto image on a SD card and boot from it.

By the way, I *highly* recommend you to use the Galileo in that way, the capabilities are much, much better (the first one being the Galileo being able to retain its sketch when powered off )
