Edison + HID Joystick

Jump to solution

Has anyone managed to poll data, in Arduino, Python, Node.js, or any other language from an HID joystick? I'm working on a project that utilizes a USB joystick (perhaps a bluetooth one later, but I figure wired is easier) and I haven't found an elegant way to do it. Any ideas? It's hard to tell which node/python/arduino usb host libraries will work on the Edison.

Hi ehead,

I have not tried it, but I think you can try with pygame I know it handles joysticks and game-pads take a look at the joystick function, http://www.pygame.org/docs/ref/joystick.html http://www.pygame.org/docs/ref/joystick.html. I hope it works for you.

Unfortunately pygame does not work, as pygame requires a graphics output to initialize. A python library called evdev is working well for me.
