Edison dual wifi antennas configuration

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I'm trying to have edison as an AP and then find the direction of each client. So I was thinking mounting an external wifi antenna and then use antenna diversity to find the direction. Is it even possible to have edison operate both antennas and read values from each of them? Or maybe is there any other way to find the direction?

Hi,

What do you mean with direction, IP address? If that's the case then you can use connman. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Connman https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Connman . Connman has useful commands that will help you scan over wifi networks and see which ones are available before connecting. The command connmanctl services might be helpful.

Do you want to only scan the networks available or do you want to connect? If you want to connect your Edison to devices of different networks you have to configure your interfaces properly. You can connect more than one device to the Edison configured as an AP as long as the address of the interface and the devices are in the same network.
