I the mini breakout board for the edison and have gone through and successfully been able to connect to the edison using a usb dongle. I have setup up a static IP address on the edison and a static ip on my desktop and I'm able to ping from one machine to the other and SSH into the edison without an issue.
However, after some time (occasionally immediately, normally within a minute or two) the ssh session freezes and I'm no longer able to ping the edison, yet if if I run ifconfig both still have their IP address and look as though nothing is wrong.
In order to be able to reconnect I have to restart connmanctl on the edison, or stop and restart the ethernet within connmanctl (Note: it doesn't always work the first time).
I have tried disabling wifi and bluetooth in connmanctl yet it doesn't appear to make any difference.
I would greatly appreciate any help in resolving the issue.
Thank you for using the Intel Edison, hope you're having a good time with it.
Regarding your case, I would like to know how you're powering the Mini Breakout board. Are you using an external supply, like a battery or similar? If you're just using the USB port to power up the Edison, there might be an issue like a possible lack of current being provided to the dongle, causing it to disconnect with no apparent reason.
I'm powering the edison using J21, I neglected to mention in the original post that I am using a USB hub (as I have other devices connected). I have switched to using a powered hub to test if it was an issue of power. Since doing so I have not been disconnected but will continue testing.
I'm happy to hear that it is not disconnecting for now. Let us know how your tests go and if the dongle starts disconnecting again.
