Extract Image from current Intel Edison and install to new Board

I have a Intel Edison with a Breakout kit. It has a service and a startup script that executes on boot. I need to clone this image and be able to install into a brand new Edison and Breakout kit, where once this image is installed, it will boot with the startup script as well. Any way to extract as well as install a pre-built image?

Some options have been to extract onto a microsd card, but the Breakout kit does not have that slot.

As for the installation, I saw suggestions of ./flashall.sh. Would I be able to just replace the downloaded yocto image from intel with the extracted image, and run flashall?

thanks

Hi PritSat,

Thank you for contacting us.

The only method available is using the microSD Card to extract the image (backup), or to restore it on another Intel Edison. So, the best suggestions that I can give you are:

1. The SD card pins are available in the Mini Breakout board, so you can try to implement an SD card interface. (Check this thread: https://communities.intel.com/thread/68367 https://communities.intel.com/thread/68367)

2. You can use an Arduino Expansion board that already comes with the SD card slot (Easy way).

3. You can use another SD shield with your Edison module, like this one: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13041

Once you have the SD card interface you can follow this thread to accomplish your goal: https://communities.intel.com/thread/55807 https://communities.intel.com/thread/55807

I hope you find this information helpful.

Have a nice day.

Hey,

I have not yet tried out the options since we are currently focusing on other issues. But I will get to this problem very soon.

Will I be able to request your help again when the time comes?

Thanks
