Fan not working? Taking forever to do things

I have had my Compute Stick for about 5 months now, I noticed today (after taking it out of storage) that the compute stick became fairly hot, I then noticed the fan was no longer spinning. Is this a common issue with this platform?

I also noticed now that the fan no longer spins, the unit takes a VEEEEEEERY long time to load the OS or even restore it. I attempted to upgrade from 8.1 to 10 and it took nearly 6 hours. I stopped the upgrade and attempted to downgrade and 'restore' the compute stick back to the original 8.1 OS and that too took forever....

Is the hardware just gone or is there anything that I can do to fix this? I really don't want to RMA it...

Please try the following:

Update the Intel® Compute Stick BIOS; please download the latest BIOS version for this unit at:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25506/BIOS-Update-FCBYT10H-86A- Download BIOS Update [FCBYT10H.86A]

You can follow the BIOS update instructions here:

After that is done reset the system to factory defaults:

Remove any SD card, if installed.

Press F8 when you see this prompt during boot: F8 to Activate Windows 8.1* Recovery Mode.

Select Troubleshoot.

Select Reset your PC, then select Next.

Select just remove my files.

Select Reset to start the restore process.

If these troubleshooting work for you try upgrading to Windows 10 again, please follow the steps to upgrade to Windows 10 at:
