Flashing custom image to Edison

Jump to solution

I can't find any guidance on how to flash a custom `.img` to an Edison - for instance a backup image. There are instructions for http://www.instructables.com/id/BackupRestore-Intel-Edison/?ALLSTEPS restoring to a working Edison using `dd`, although this https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/247235/restore-errors-bad-header-extent-invalid-magic-magic... throws up errors for me. Is there a workflow for restoring via flash? I'm working with Ubilinux so Yocto methods aren't helpful unless they're transferable to Ubilinux.

Thanks in advance.

Hi geotheory,

The steps you are following are based on Yocto, so there could be some problems while using it on Ubilinux. I suggest you to contact http://www.emutexlabs.com/forum/index EmutexLabs in order to know the right way to do this on this image.

As Ubilinux is Debian-based you could try with:

https://wiki.debian.org/BackupAndRecoveryWork BackupAndRecoveryWork - Debian Wiki

https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/system-administrator/ch-sysadmin-backup.html Debian GNU/Linux System Administrator's Manual (Obsolete Documentation) - Backup and Restore

Charlie
