How many USB controllers does the Intel Joule 570x have?

Jump to solution

From the datasheet it mentions that the Intel® Joule™ module provides two USB 3.0 ports; one Type C (OTG) and one USB 3.0 host mode and a USB 2 host port.

Are there distinct controllers, if so how many, and which ports are connected to which controller?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

John

Hello John,

Thank you for interest in the Intel® Joule™ Products.

The USB sub-system supports one DRD (dual-role device)/OTG (on-the-go) port, which uses separate host controller (xHCI) and device controller (xDCI) IPs.

The USB subsystem incorporates the xHCI Host Controller, and USB 3.0 Controller configured as a USB Device only (xDCI).

For more information regarding the USB electrical characteristics, please follow this link http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/joule-products/intel-joule-expansion-hardwa..., page 54.

Information related to the USB device connectivity (USB2 and USB3) can be found in this link http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/joule-products/intel-joule-expansion-board-..., page 27.
