We have designed a custom PCB to house the edison via the Hirose connector. Since our application doesn't need to have USB, no USB port is on our PCB. We need to have custom image for our product and we want to know if there is a way to flash edison without first flashing it from the Arduino board. Because the pins on edison can be easily snapped if pull at an off-angle. On factory assembly line, workers are not very delicate with this type of action. Does edison support in-circuit programming? If there are EE docs available, please reference them in answer please.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Steven,
The process that we use to flash board employs the dfu utility, which is intended to download and upload firmware to or from devices connected over USB. So, using this method it wouldn't be possible to avoid that step, you'll indeed need a USB connection for the first time. We are not aware of any other methods, but you can search for different approaches to accomplish this, you might find something that helps you.
Regards,
Pablo
