I have two edisons running for over one year... would like to update for mcu

Jump to solution

hi, I have two edisons running continuously for over one year. My edisons are old enough that the mcu was not active when I set them up. I would like to activate the on-board mcu; would someone point me in the right direction for instructions on how to update the edison (without losing much) so that the mcu will be operational, and so that I have the latest Yocto linux installed.

Thanks.

Hi MarkHaysHarris777,

The link you mention is the guide you need to start using the MCU on Edison. However, you probably need to flash the Edison with the latest Yocto image before start using the MCU.

You can download the latest Yocto image from the following link: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25871/eng/iot-devkit-prof-dev-image-edison-20160315.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25871/eng/iot-devkit-prof-dev-image-edison-20160315.zip. To flash the Edison, you can follow the instructions in this document: /docs/DOC-25154 https://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-25154.

I recommend you to save your scripts (in a SD for example) before flashing the Edison because they will be deleted during the process.

Regards,

Diego
