Intel Edison and Sim Card (GSM)

Hi everybody,

I'd have a question for you.

I'm using Intel Edison shield for a IoT project but I need to connect to internet the shield not using Wifi or Ethernet, but using, for example, a Sim card. Is it possible? Is there any additional shield to use?

Furthermore, where can I find sketch and examples about the code to use?

I kindly ask you to let me knwo, it's very important.

Best regards and thanks in advance,

Lorenzo

Hi Lorenzo,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for the delay in our reply.

I haven't tested this myself, however, there are some other threads with similar questions that you should check. In general, it would be a good idea to check the Edison/Galileo shield report for compatible/tested GSM shields, you can find the link to it in following links:

/thread/58935 https://communities.intel.com/thread/58935

/thread/67707 https://communities.intel.com/thread/67707

Also, you can also check this tutorial on how to connect a GPRS modem to Intel Edison https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/connect-a-gprs-modem-to-intel-edison/ https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/connect-a-gprs-modem-to-intel-edison/.

Hope you find this information helpful.

Regards,
