Intel Edison upload problem with Arduino IDE 1602 LCD I2C

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I have a question about the upload issue. I used a Arduino breakout board and Grove base shield. I have connected a 9V external power adapter and two micro USB.

I used an analog pin to read data from a light sensor and a temperature sensor then display it on a 1602 I2C lCD (refresh every second). It works after upload finished with all the power and USB port connected. But when I unplug the micro USB (keep the 9V external power connected), it didn't work anymore. The LCD is stuck and stop refreshing.

The library I used in my sketch are

# include

# include

# include "rgb_lcd.h" // LCD

# include // Grove temperature sensor

Can any one tell me what is wrong?

Thanks a lot !

Hello channinglin,

According to your description, it seems to be a known issue reported in the latest Yocto image. This means that the issue is neither in the Arduino sketch nor the libraries you use, but in the Yocto image version.

I recommend you to re-flash your Edison with the following Yocto image and check if the issue is resolved: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloads/eula/24910/Intel-Edison-Software-Release-2-1?httpDown=htt... Intel Edison Software Release 2.1

Regards,

Diego.

Hi DiegoV,

Yes, you are right! I re-flash my Edison with the Yocto image you link and it works! However, I thought it would start to work and display things as long as I plug the external power. In fact, I have to connect the two micro USB and the external power first, then it starts to work. After that, I can unplug the two micro USB and only keep the power cable.
