Intel Galileo won't compile on MacOS Arduino

I'm running Arduino IDE 1.8.13 on MacOS 10.15.7 and get the following error for the Intel Galileo (rev2) board when I try to compile the basic template sketch:

fork/exec /Users/dad/Library/Arduino15/packages/Intel/tools/i586-poky-linux-uclibc/1.6.2+1.0/i586/pokysdk/usr/bin/i586-poky-linux-uclibc/i586-poky-linux-uclibc-g++: bad CPU type in executable
Error compiling for board Intel® Galileo Gen2.

If I select the Uno board instead, the compile is clean. I suspect the files for the Galileo board have not been updated to 64b which is now required by MacOS. Does anyone have a workaround?

Thx.
