Thanks for your interest in the Intel® Edison Platform.
Could you be so kind to explain us what do you mean when you asked "When is support for ubuntu 16.04 going to be released?". Are you talking about installing Ubuntu 16.04 in your Edison instead of the Latest Yocto* Poky image? Or maybe you are talking about installing an IDE on a PC with Ubuntu 16.04?
Please let us know in order to assist you in the best way possible.
We will be waiting for your reply, have a nice day!
sorry for not giving enough an explanation. I'm referring to the linux installer on the https://software.intel.com/en-us/iot/hardware/edison/downloads Intel® Edison Module Downloads page .
At some point during the installation i'm notified that my ubuntu version(16.04) is not supported.
You don't need to worry! You can always try the manual process https://software.intel.com/en-us/flashing-firmware-on-your-intel-edison-board-linux IoT - Flashing the firmware on a system with Linux* (manual process) | Intel® Software, personally I prefer this method is faster and you don't need to depend on a Software Tool.
Please let me know your results, have a nice day!
Here a screen shot of the screen. It didn't seem like it mattered since i was able to reach the screen that lets me update/configure edison but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
Just to be clear, so you were able to flash the image into your Edison? If weren't able to it, please follow the manual process https://software.intel.com/en-us/flashing-firmware-on-your-intel-edison-board-linux IoT - Flashing the firmware on a system with Linux* (manual process) | Intel® Software .
Now, regarding Ubuntu 16.04, it doesn't matter which OS you are using, you should be able to establish a serial connection to your Edison. Just keep in mind that some IDE might not be compatible with your Ubuntu version.
Please let me know if any questions come up, have a nice day!
I'm glad to know that you updated your Edison! Please let us know if any questions come up.
Have a nice day!
Jose, I faced the same error message as the original poster in the http://software.intel.com/get-started-edison-linux-step2 Intel Edison Board Configuration Tool on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I understand you prefer the manual process. However, according to http://software.intel.com/flashing-the-firmware-on-intel-edison-board this webpage, that tool is the preferred method to start. To finally fix that issue, did you report it to the maintainers of that tool? Or is that tool even open source, so I can submit a patch/change myself towards that project? If not, where do end-users like me report issues with that tool?
Thank you very much for your interest in helping improve the Configuration Tool.
I will report the issue to the corresponding team.
Have a nice day.
