Intel compute stick (native win 10) November update

my compute stick won't process the win-10 update to 1511, 10586.

Micro SD card removed as per Microsoft (.http://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-windows-10-november-update-getting-stuck How to prevent Windows 10 November update from getting stuck during installation | Windows Central)

(Micro SD also disabled in BIOS / BIOS updated to 0031)

So here's what I got:

So I chose to see what could be cleaned up from an already small install:

Certainly not 15 (or 10) GB worth of free space there. so I left that alone and inserted a 64GB USB thumb drive:

and here's the installed programs:

The install is 13.7GB - impressive! The update needs 14.4 more GB space on C:\ for this to work AFTER the 64GB USB drive is installed?

WTF!

Looks like Microsoft needs a multi part install for these little computers to update.

I installed the Show/Hide update utility from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

-the utility works fine. (hides the November update but provides any new updates.)

The little system works great for an HTPC otherwise. I just wish it could update properly.

I'll wait patiently for the "fix"

I had the Windows® 8.1 version and I upgraded to Windows® 10. I was able to install Windows® 10 after all Windows® 8.1 was fully updated then I moved to Windows® 10. It did not give me any space issue. I would recommend uninstall programs you are not currently using on the compute stick and try to get November update one more time.

Windows says it needs more space to "update" than the programs listed would free up if they were removed.

By the numbers reported from from above, I'd need 0.9GB to get 14.4GB free on C:\.

Are you saying that you were able to update to 1511, 10586 November update from Windows 8.1?

I am saying that after having Windows® 8.1 fully updated I moved to Windows® 10 and installed the latest November update.

Allan. After Threshold2 update my ICS is no longer working. Tried almost everything :-(

Can I get an image w 8.1 from anywhere so I can start from scratch? If that's not possible, image of w10 with november update?

Success story here and this is how I upgraded to Win 10. Download this 10240 Home ret. esd file here https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3ee1gx/windows_10_10240_esd_download_here/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3ee1gx/windows_10_10240_esd_download_here/.

After reading the instructions download this tool for the conversion from esd to iso http://manian.com/index.php?order_type=desc&sort_index=regdate&mid=data&document_srl=6603382 매니안닷컴. .Place the iso in one of the removable drives and open it with

explorer and execute the setup file. Once the install is final, use the intel auto driver update tool to get all of the different drivers for the new update and your good to go.

Philberg. How could one be sure these links are not going to infect my PC?

I didn't pick up anything at these two sites, but you have to be careful when going to different sites on the web.

These sites were clean, you are good to go.

I've looked at other links refereeing to same info. so seems theres no problem.

Thanks, just hope it works. Will try tomorrow.

Ok Philberg, as I understand your message, it looks like to replicate what your saying, I need to downgrade to win 8.1, then use the win 10 image you linked, then everything seems to work? (my ics is native windows 10 as in the header of this post, it just refuses to perform the november update to 10586.) I have gotten the ics to try to perform the update, only to turn on the TV in the morning and discover it's stuck. (glad I imaged the thing - rolling it all back in is relatively quick.)

I'll look into this this weekend and see if this cures the update problem.

Were you able to update to the latest November update?

Allan.

No, I wasn't. It froze up just like it did when I updated from win 8.1.

I'll wait it out for a correction on the new update, but I succeeded with

my update to win 10 from win 8.1.

Philberg.

I tried your suggestion you made 03-Dec-2015 10:36 but I'm prompted for an activation key which of course I dont have. Did you also get asked for key?

My ICS came with Windows 8.1 and it was updated to W10 when that was released. Now after latest update I cant boot into windows and I am unable to reset to 8.1/10 so I assume the recovery partition is no longer accessible and when booting from USB it cant find original key.

Any ideas anyone?

November update still doesn't work for my system. I did NOT downgrade to 8.1, then upgrade. No reason to create more problems than already exist - hehe.

I'll give it one more try, then start the return process and wait for next years compute stick with 64GB flash.
