Intel edison database

Jump to solution

Hi guys,

I'm new to Intel Edison, but I've already know the basic configurations. I'm doing a Node.js project and using Intel XDK to build the project. My idea is using Intel Edison as a server to store data, and I want the data to store on the SD Card (as the database). So, what library i need to use to manage data (write, read, delete,...) on the database? Please help me

Hi NewMech,

Thanks for reaching out. I think that the module that you need is File System, I found some links that can be helpful for you:

https://nodejs.org/api/fs.html

https://www.tutorialspoint.com/nodejs/nodejs_file_system.htm

You can manage files even in your SD Card, you only have to use the right path.

I hope you find this helpful.

Really thanks about your help. It's very useful.

But may I ask you another question? How can I access to the SD card, I'm using Intel Edison with Breakout board for Arduino, which already have sd card socket. I mean, how can I access (read, create file,..) the SD card using the linux commands, because when I open the terminal, and type:

"cd ~" to change the current directory to root, then using list file and folder (ls), I cannot see the sd card directory.

Do I need to format the SD card to the right type (FAT, FAT32, NTFS,...) so that the Edison can recognize?

Hi NewMech,

To access to the SD Card you have to use the following command:

cd /media/sdcard

The command "cd ~" change the current directory to the home directory, to go to the root you have to enter the command "cd /".

About the SD Card, the Intel Edison should read any FAT type, so make sure that it is in this format.

I hope you find this information useful.

Have a nice day.
